Less-than-truckload transportation is used when a shipment takes only part of a trailer. For businesses, that often means a pallet, a few skids or a shipment that is too large for parcel shipping but not large enough to justify a dedicated truck.
Accurate dimensions and weight matter because LTL pricing and handling depend on the space and characteristics of the shipment. The quote form captures pallet count, dimensions, total weight, commodity and origin/destination so the load can be reviewed correctly.

Canada & U.S. transportation
Pallet shipping and skid freight in Canada and to the USA
Canadian shippers commonly use both the words pallet and skid, while U.S. searches often lean heavily toward pallet shipping and LTL freight. Skid to Trailer uses both terms so customers can find the service using the language they already know.
For larger partial shipments, the best option may change depending on density, trailer space and route. Providing accurate load details lets the shipment be compared against LTL, partial truckload and full truckload requirements.
